Celebrating Students! Praise Breaks

Classroom Celebrations: Praise Breaks

2, 4, 6, 8 Who do we appreciate?  How do your students appreciate eachother and you?

Have you ever heard of Tribes for Classroom Management?  Tribes is a method to create a strong and positive classroom climate.  It is hard to describe in just a few words but in a nutshell kids feel like they are part of something important and we know all the positive effects of belonging, contributing, and encouraging.  Ultimately, I am a TRIBES fan--I loooove Tribes.

One of the key components of Tribes is to give appreciations (compliments), but not only teacher to student, students to students, students to teacher but also student self-reflection.  I've always wanted to make something that would bring compliments into the classroom in an easy way.  I think taking a few minutes here and there to purposely give eachother compliments is important.  I think it increases the positive climate and allows for movement and a 'break' much like Brain Breaks. (awesome-btw!)  And much like bucket fillers, they encourage the peer-to-peer relationship. These are the perfect companion!

I've created these Praise Breaks {Pops That Are Oh-So-Sweet} to help manage the compliments, keep students thinking how they can praise eachother and adults across campus and stay accountable throughout the day and week.

Classroom Celebrations: Praise Breaks

I would facilitate them any time I think we would need a 'break' and more often if I felt we needed to bond a bit or started taking eachother for granted.

So, you all know I don't like to talk much about products either here or on A Modern Teacher.  But occasionally I will.  I really want to show you something that has been created with you in mind...to help make your life easier.

All I did was print these out on cardstock and laminate.  You could also glue them to actual popsicle sticks and place in a fun container (maybe a homemade popsicle maker from Target?).

At the end of the year you could have a popsicle party to celebrate.  Popsicles don't have to be 'bad-for-you' dessert.  You could find some nutritious ones....just sayin'.

These are in my shop...and it's done for you.  Oh and they do print out fine in grayscale.

Celebrate eachother!

Sorry this post is a day late!! Have a great weekend!

*Cheers!*
